Maintenance schedules and checklists prevent the slow degradation that turns
a premium signage installation into a neglected eyesore. Dusty screens, outdated content,
old firmware, and forgotten passwords accumulate over months without systematic maintenance.
SpinetiX players are maintenance-free hardware (no fans, no filters, no moving parts), but
the surrounding ecosystem — displays, cabling, network, content, and security — requires
regular attention.
Maintenance Schedule
Weekly Tasks
- Visual check: all screens powered on and showing content
- Clean touch screens and public-facing displays
- Review monitoring dashboard for offline events
- Verify data feeds are delivering current data
Monthly Tasks
- Content review: check for expired campaigns, outdated information
- Clean non-public displays (dust accumulation)
- Check cable connections and management
- Verify player storage usage (cleanup if near capacity)
- Review monitoring logs for patterns (recurring offline events)
Quarterly Tasks
- Firmware review: check for available updates
- Security audit: verify passwords, HTTPS, access controls
- Backup verification: test content restore procedure
- Display calibration: brightness, colour accuracy
- Ventilation check: air flow around player and display
- Update fleet inventory documentation
Annual Tasks
- Physical inspection: mounting hardware, brackets, structural integrity
- Display lifespan assessment: hours remaining, burn-in check
- Hardware refresh planning: budget for end-of-life replacements
- Full disaster recovery test: simulate failure and recover
- Stakeholder review: signage ROI, satisfaction survey

Key Parameters
| Parameter | Value | Why It Matters |
| Player maintenance | Zero (fanless, sealed) | No hardware maintenance cost |
| Display lifespan | 50,000–70,000 hours | Plan refresh cycles |
| Maintenance window | 30–60 min monthly off-hours | Minimal business disruption |
| Cleaning supplies | Microfiber + screen cleaner | Prevent display damage |
Common Mistakes
- No maintenance schedule. "We'll deal with it when something breaks" is not a strategy. Preventive maintenance is significantly cheaper than emergency repairs and prevents reputational damage from visibly neglected screens.
- Ammonia-based cleaners on LCD. Household glass cleaner damages LCD coatings. Use only manufacturer-recommended screen cleaners and microfiber cloths.
- Ignoring ventilation. A player installed in an enclosed space with no airflow overheats in Middle Eastern summers. Check that ventilation paths are clear — dust buildup in cable trays and enclosures restricts airflow.
- No hardware replacement budget. Displays that reach end-of-life need replacement. Without an annual refresh budget, failing displays accumulate and the installation deteriorates.
